Goa is primarily known for its beautiful beaches. This is an ideal location in India for spending a splendid beach holiday with family and friends. Tourists can enjoy a relaxed holiday in the palm fringed beaches and enjoy the scenery of the magnificent sea in Goa. Some of the popular beaches in Goa are:

Anjuna Beach

This beach is located at a distance of 8 km from Mapusa. Being a favorite beach to the tourists in Goa, this place is always crowded with visitors. Here the sea is calm and suitable for swimming. This beach is famous for beach parties during the festive season - from Christmas to New Year.

Arambol Beach

Arambol – the fishing village is located very near to this Goan beach. The terrain of this beach is sandy and mostly rocky. This beach is a good spot for swimming. Para gliding and dolphin watching are two other popular activities of tourists on this beach. Tourists can visit the hot spring that has formed near the Arambol beach.

Dona Paula Beach

From Panjim, the distance of this beach is about 7 km. The specialty of this beach is that it is washed by rivers of Goa as well as by the sea water. The tale of Dona Paula de Menezes and her lost love is associated with this Goan beach.

Candolim Beach

This is one of the best beaches in Goa. This tourist spot can be visited from Panaji. The beach is very peaceful and an ideal location to spend a relaxed and rejuvenating day. It stretches from Fort Aguada to Chapora Beach.

Vagator Beach

It is a white sand beach in Goa. Sea in this part of Goa is not suited for swimming. To tourists, this beach is famous for its nightlife. Further south from this beach a water pool is located. The Chapora Fort is situated near this sea beach.

Agonda Beach

Very recently this beach became a tourist spot in Goa. It is located about 12 km from Palolem. It has also become a popular picnic spot for tourists and locals. The sea water by this beach is very clear and swimmers can easily see the bottom of the shore.

Budbudyanchi Tali

It takes about 2 hours to reach Netravali from Panaji. The famous tank of bubbles known as Budbudyanchi Tali is located near this village. The location around this water tank is peaceful. Beautiful hills and forests are located nearby. Ripples of bubbles in the water tank is a magnificent sight for the onlooker. Tourists can also visit the heritage sites like Mahalaxmi temple, Siddeshwar temple and Dattatray temple located nearby the Netravali village.

Partgal Math

In India, Partgal Math was known as one of the most important centers of Vedic learning. This tourist spot is located at a distance of 90 km from Panaji. In the ancient days, the Swamis of the temple looked after this center of learning.

Shrimat Vidyadhiraj Tirth Shripad Vader Swamiji is the 23rd Swamiji of the temple. It was set up during 14th century. Followers and devotees come to visit this temple from Goa and nearby states. A huge Banyan tree or Vatavriksha stands here which is considered as a center for meditation for near about 1000 of years.

Adil Shah's Palace

Among the surviving buildings in Panaji, the palace of Adil Shah is the oldest. In about 1500 this palace was constructed by Yusuf Adil Shah of Bijapur. The architecture of this building reflects the colonial influence. The Palace of Adil Shah served as the summer palace to the then ruler. After the Portuguese came to Goa, they converted the building to be a rest house for their Viceroys. From about 1759, this building was converted to Viceroy's royal residence.

Chorao Island

From Panaji, the island of Chorao is located at a distance of about 5 km. The main attraction of this island is the Dr. Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary. It is located on the western part of the island. At this sanctuary, nature lovers and tourists can see different species of birds and animals. The Goan crocodiles are also kept here.

Divar Island

One needs to take a ferry to reach this island. From Panaji, the distance of Divar Island is about 7 km. Tourists can feel the strong essence of the Goan countryside by visiting this island. Piedade is a tiny Goan village that is located here. The Church of Our Lady of Compassion is situated here. The island has magnificent natural scenery and dotted with forested hillocks.

Caves of Khanderpar

Caves of Khanderpar

About 36 km from Panaji the beautiful rock caves of Khanderpar is located. There are four such rock caves in this region. These rock caves were designed in about 12th century. It was in 1970 that these rock cut caves were rediscovered.
