Through train, Shimla is connected to Kalka which is 96 km. on the meter gauge and it takes around 6 hours to reach Shimla from Kalka. There are around 3 to 4 trains from Kalka and for a comfortable journey with less halts, tourists can opt for Shivalik Express which is a deluxe train having pantry facility also. On the route, there are 103 tunnels of which the longest one is 1.2 km.
