How to reach Vaishno Devi

Vaishno Devi can be reached by air, rail and bus routes. Tourists traveling by rail and air have to halt at Jammu before reaching Vaishno Devi. Tourists who are traveling by road can take a short cut from Kunjwani to reach katra. The yatris to Vaishno Devi have to start their journey towards the holy caves from the base camp set up at Katra.

By Air

The nearest airport to Vaishno Devi is the Jammu Airport. From Katra, the distance of this airport is about 50 km. Regular planes are operated from this airport. Tourists can reach Jammu from Srinagar, Delhi and Leh. From Jammu airport tourists can take taxis to reach Katra. Tourists coming from outside India, can also avail the connecting flights from Delhi airport, which is about 663 km away. From Delhi, it takes about 80 minutes to reach Jammu.

By Rail

Jammu is the nearest railway station to Vaishno Devi. It connects major Indian cities with Jammu. Special trains to Jammu are operated for the Yatris during holidays and summer. From this railway station, trains ply to even Trivandrum Railway Station which is the southernmost railway station in India.

By Road

Tourists to Vaishno Devi can avail bus services operated by Jammu and Kashmir State Road Transport Corporation. Many private operators also offer this service. These buses ply from Katra to Jammu and also connect Jammu with important cities of North India. Tourists can also hire deluxe bus services on the same route.

By Helicopter

There is another mode of transport from Katra to Vaishno Devi. Deccan Aviation and Pawan Hans operates helicopter service from Katra to Sanjhichatt. A short trip in the helicopter is an adventurous experience for yatris and tourists.
