Vaishno Devi Temple

The temple of Vaishno Devi is situated inside a cave on the Trikuta mountain. This temple is located at an altitude of 5200 feet. The temple is located in Jammu and Kashmir in India. The town of Katra is located at a distance of 12 km from this temple. The visitors have to trek all the way to this temple from Katra. The yatris who find difficulty in walking all the way from Katra can hire a pony or a palki to reach Vaishno Devi. Porters who are locally known as Pithus can be hired to carry luggage.

Vaishno Devi Darshan

A Darshan of the of Vaishno Devi at the end of the pilgrimage is the most auspicious part to the “yatris” (visitors). The yatris will get to see 3 natural rocks inside the holy cave which are worshiped as goddess Shakti as no idol or statue of Vaishno Devi is placed here. Many worshipers of Vaishno Devi carry her prashad for their relatives and friends.

Visitors to the temple can shop sweets and coconuts for offering them to the Devi from the nearby stalls. They can even collect souvenirs from the nearby local shops set up by the Shrine Board. Some of the souvenir shops are set up at Adkuwari, Bhawan, Sanjichhat and Vaishnavi Dham. Yatris can buy CDs, audio cassettes, laminated photos and books as souvenirs for their relatives and friends. Gold and silver coins with impression of the Holy Pindis are sold at the Prashad counters near caves.
