For Visitors and Tourists to Vaishno Devi

While visiting the Vaishno Devi temple, the visitors should keep certain things in mind. Since it is a religious place, they should abide by certain rules. For Darshan of the Mata Vaishno Devi, one should inquire about the group number and maintain a queue for the darshan. One can enter the caves for the darshan of the Devi only when the group number is announced. The visitors are requested to wear clean clothes before the darshan.

All other belongings of the yatris have to be deposited in a separate cloak room. Inside the caves, the worshipers are requested not to chant hymns or slogans as it may cause disturbance to other pilgrims. While bathing in the ghats, one is not permitted to use oil, shampoo or soap. When visiting Vaishno Devi, do not offer jewelry or cash to the holy rocks. But the offerings to the goddess can be placed in the donation boxes. If you offer coconut to Vaishno Devi then deposit it by collecting a token.

The visitors can have the Darshan of the Devi anytime of the day and the temple can be visited anytime of the year. The route to Vaishno Devi becomes unsafe and more difficult to travel as snowfall often blocks the path.

The Shrine Board offers accommodation to the pilgrims in Vaishno Devi. Both free and rented accommodation are available. Tourists and visitors to this temple can stay at Saraswati Dham and Vaishnavi Dham Complexes at Jammu and also at Niharika Complex at Katra. Accommodation is also available at Bhawan, Sanjhichat and Adhkuwari. It is advisable to book rooms before traveling to Vaishno Devi. Since it is a custom to take a bath before entering the Vaishno Devi Mandir, devotees can bathe at the hotels / lodges to avoid bathing in the ice cold water of the ghats.
