The splendid city of Agra is located in western part of Uttar Pradesh, India. It is also known as the
city of Taj. Agra finds mention in the Hindu epic Mahabharata, where it is referred as Agrabana. The
city was founded in 1475 by Badal Singh. Agra was under the domination of Sikander Lodhi till Babur
took over the city from him. The city flourished in the fields of architecture, art and culture mostly
under the Mughal emperors like Akbar, Jehangir and Shah Jahan. This city was marked by Ptolemy,
the noted geographer of the 2nd Century A.D on the world map as Agra.
